Amanda Highlights the Threat
Stay Informed and Take Precautions
A Tornado Watch has been issued for several counties in the area. The watch is in effect until 8 PM CST.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Tornado Watch for the following counties:
- Cook County
- DuPage County
- Kane County
- Kendall County
- Lake County
- McHenry County
- Will County
A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop. Residents in the affected counties should be prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
The NWS recommends that residents take the following precautions:
- Stay indoors and away from windows.
- Go to the lowest level of your home and stay in a small, interior room, such as a closet or bathroom.
- If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or lie down in a ditch and cover your head with your hands.
- Stay tuned to local news and weather reports for updates.
