2024 American Orchid Society Awards
The California Sierra Nevada Judging Center, in conjunction with the Sacramento Orchid Society, will be hosting a series of judging events throughout 2024. These events will provide an opportunity for orchid enthusiasts to have their plants judged by accredited judges from the American Orchid Society (AOS).
Awards and Judging Criteria
AOS judges will be present to evaluate orchids based on their quality, form, and overall appearance. Awards will be given in a variety of categories, including:
- Best of Show
- Cultural Awards
- Hybrid Awards
- Species Awards
- January 3: Dueling Dogs Supplemental Judging
- February 7: Diablo View Orchid Society Show
- March 6: Gold Country Orchid Society Show
- April 3: Sacramento Orchid Society Show
- May 1: Mother's Day Show
- June 5: Father's Day Show
- July 3: Independence Day Show
- August 7: Lodi Orchid Society Show
- September 4: Labor Day Show
- October 2: Fall Festival Show
- November 6: Veterans Day Show
- December 4: Christmas Show
Judging will be conducted according to the AOS Judging System, which is designed to ensure fairness and consistency in the evaluation process.
Submitting Plants for Judging
Orchid growers who wish to submit their plants for judging must register their plants in advance. Registration forms and additional information are available on the California Sierra Nevada Judging Center website.

The 2024 judging schedule is as follows:
Judging will take place at the Odd Fellows Hall, located at 1831 Howe Ave, Sacramento, CA 95825.
